Washington D.C. - Highlands Mayor and Republican Candidate for New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District, Anna Little, joined with grass roots organizations in Washington D.C. to show her opposition to the proposed government take over of health care during the President Obama’s Health Care Summit. At press conference held near the Blair House where President Obama hosted his Health Care Summit, citizens from several states voiced their outrage over the President's push for Socialized Medicine. The crowd chanted the phrases "Hands off my Health Care", and "Kill the Bill" to demonstrate their concerns over the Health Care proposal supported by the President. In a spontaneous patriotic moment, the group sang "God Bless America".

Most people in attendance stated that they wanted the Congress and the President to scrap the current proposal and start over. They expressed frustration that Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, has not allowed the Republican alternatives to be introduced on House floor for consideration.

"President Obama and Speaker Pelosi should fairly examine all solutions to the health care crisis facing the American people. By refusing to consider any bill or amendments proposed by Republican members, it is clear that Obama and Pelosi are working for their political agenda, and not for the people they are sworn to serve," Little stated.

After a light lunch, the group gathered to hear from Tim Phillips, President of Americans for Prosperity. Congressman John Shadegg spoke to attendees; followed by Former Congressman J.C. Watts who delivered a motivating speech. Mayor Little used this opportunity to speak with national and state leaders from various grass roots organizations about her opposition to the currently proposed legislation and her campaign to unseat Frank Pallone in New Jersey’s 6th Congressional district. Frank Pallone is a leading co-sponsor and architect of the House Health Care bill.

The group then returned by bus to New Jersey energized and inspired to continue their efforts to stop the passage of this legislation by contacting their representatives in Congress. "I thoroughly enjoyed the experience," said Mayor Anna Little. "The group was orderly, civilized and respectful to authority."

Little continued, “Our message is clear: Americans will not accept Socialized Medicine. We will maintain our freedom to select the doctors, hospitals and treatments of our choosing. We will exercise the freedom to contract, negotiate our payment arrangements, and in our choices regarding insurance coverage. We will not delegate to government or to insurance companies decisions about who receives treatment, and whether patients live or die."
